My first shooter game :D

Posted by scriptwelder - May 22nd, 2013

You know what they say - there's a first time for everything :D
I've created a shooter game - Primal Sands.

Developing this game took me waaaay longer than I expected - and to tell the truth the result is far from perfect :) I've wanted to test myself and learn how to make a shooter game. Surprisingly it's not mechanics or AI that turns out to be the hardest part, but the game balance... I had no idea that balancing a simple shooter game is such a difficult task.

I'm currently tweaking it a bit, and soon I'm probably going to add the requested Repair Torch upgrades.

My first shooter game :D

Excited to get started :3

I'l try it when I have time, and then post a review there. Or maybe send a PM, both are good I guess.

Beautiful. I found the game very forgiving all around, I liked how upgrading nanomachines healed both the tank and the hull of the ship, and the most obvious strategy so far is to upgrade the turrets and put out as many as possible and keep the repaired, then go for weapon upgrades. The shotgun currently deals more damage than the rocket launcher and is the obvious choice for taking out large things or small groups, the minigun feels perfect as a backup or taking out the long range siege enemies, and the rockets... eh, they felt like they could have been more useful on smaller enemies, considering how long it takes to change weapons. It was still very fun, everything laid out.
